Tod ‘The River Yurt’

The most secluded of our yurts, the stunning site of Tod boasts views over the valley and is perched above the river Tarset. Perfect for both couples and families, this is a great yurt for the ultimate get away!

Nearby to Tod is its own compost loo housed in a reclaimed wooden structure as well as an outside hot shower for the ultimate eco holiday. Tod also has its own hikki wood fired outdoor bath and a covered sink area with running cold water for washing and washing up. Other than refrigeration of food which is available in the kitchen hut, everything you need at Tod is in your own private area.

As with the treehouse yurt, Tod now also has its own stargazing platform to walk out to from the yurt. There are also tree rope swings and a lovely hammock for children to play on or to while away the hours with a good book. Tod also offers the opportunity for wild swimming and paddling in the pools below the Yurt.

Field mice and field voles

Guests are reminded that Yurts are not solid buildings and that you are in wilderness where food and waste left lying will be be seen as an opportunity for a meal by enthusiastic field mice. Taking this into account we strongly suggest keeping food in a sealed container or the communal kitchens.

We have taken as many precautions as we can to dissuade the mice and field voles from seeking sanctuary and food inside the yurts but you must be aware that it’s impossible to completely stop them entering. You must book with this in mind and put all temptation out of harms way.

From time to time we put humane mousetraps in the yurts. If you find a mice in one of these silver boxes please bring them up in the sealed box to the main house where we will let it go some distance form the site.

The Outside Showers

It is important to read the instructions in or on the showers for correct operation.

Winter use of showers

Please note that in freezing or frosty conditions that water for the outside showers will be turned off. In these circumstances all previous allocation of the main facilities and showers will revert to Winter use and guests will be asked to use the main facilities using strict spraying and cleaning regime to insure safe use.

Back to Yurts & Huts
We loved our stay in Tod yurt, we didn't see a soul for the whole stay which was great! Lovely to watch the birds outside and the babbling stream. the Inside of the yurt was adorable.
