Our yurts

Wild Northumbrian Yurts are hand crafted, bespoke structures, fully insulated for all weathers. Adapted for the Northumbrian climate, they offer a window to the stars and changing seasons. A closeness to nature, yet with a wonderfully luxurious feel.

All of the Wild Northumbrian Yurts are furnished with wonderful local reclaimed furniture and organic, fairtrade rugs and sheepskins and an assortment of candleholders – all of the touches you would expect to make your stay comfortable.

The yurts are sourced from makers including the wonderful Yurt Workshop in Spain and Spirit Intent in Italy. They make the best yurts in the world full of beautiful craftsmanship and using the best materials.

The insulation keeps the yurts warm and cosy in the winter, able to keep out the coldest temperatures with our wood burning stoves from iron shirt and Windy Smith, both based in Devon.

The reclaimed wooden beds are made by local craftsman Karl Fisher of Dreamstone Woodworking Company and the birch tree beds are from free range Design.

Your yurt has a wood burning stove, which not only warms the space but can be used very effectively to keep kettles and food pans warm. You will also find a camping gas stove or rocket stove on which to cook and an outside fire pit and decking to gather round and look at the stars! Cooking equipment, utensils, cutlery, plates, bowls, mugs are all included – se the list below.

When you arrive you will have a basket of logs, kindling, candles, matches, firelighters for a night or so and bedding for the handmade wooden double beds which are the focal point of the yurts.

For children and extra guests we recommend bringing sleeping bags and pillows. These work best for the thick futons that are provided for the additional bed space rather than duvets.

Each yurt has a very similar set up with only one or two exceptions due to size.
